Orthopedic Surgery

At All Paws Animal Hospital our goal is to educate our clients about orthopedic disease and, if surgery is indicated, to provide our clients with the service required to ensure the best possible surgical outcome. We perform many different types of orthopedic procedures here at the hospital. For challenging cases, we consult with board certified veterinary surgeons who then travel to our facility to perform surgery.

The most common orthopedic injury that we see is damage to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in dogs. This usually results from accidental trauma during play but we do know that there are other factors such as obesity, genetics and aging. While this type of injury can happen in any breed, larger breeds such as Labrador Retrievers and Rottweilers are predisposed to ACL injury.

As there is more than one way to repair the ACL, we look at each case individually to come up with our treatment recommendations. Other orthopedic problems include fractures, hip or elbow dysplasia, limb abnormalities, and other age or weight related degenerative conditions.
