Meriel, Certified Veterinary Technician
My name is Meriel, and I am a Certified Veterinary Technician here at All Paws. I received my Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology from Argosy University and passed the national certification test shortly after graduation. I have been a CVT for over 7 years at All Paws, where my focus is anesthesia, surgical assisting, and dentistry. I have additional interests in cytology and hematology and hope to focus on expanding my knowledge in these areas.
Prior to becoming a CVT, I worked in early childhood education both in Japan and in St. Paul. I love reading, fiber arts, learning languages, and I currently have 2 cats at home. Client education is also important to me, and is a big part of why I became a CVT.
I truly love veterinary medicine because of the people. As one of my former instructors said, “Your pets don’t drive themselves to the doctor.” Working with pet parents is as important as working with their pets, and I enjoy both worlds immensely.
A fun fact about me is that I was the only female runner for a relay marathon I did in Japan, as part of the town’s teacher’s team. We came in second to last that year, which was the best the team had ever done.
