Dr. Ilze is like a cat with 9 lives – she graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 but she also is trained as a marine biologist, a comparative pathologist and in public health. She has worked with all types of animals in many parts of the country and the world, and is an advocate of One Health, looking at the interconnections between animal, human and ecosystem health. She has recently returned home to Minnesota (no place like home) focusing on small animal medicine. She is fascinated by the wide range of personalities and behaviors of our companions and enjoys working with owners to help provide the best care possible for them. She has had a variety of pets throughout her life including a burro named Pedro. Currently she lives with two cats, Peter and Lilly, who allow her to live with them.
