Dr. Berzins

Dr. Ilze K. Berzins, DVM

My name is Dr. Berzins, and I am a Part Time Veterinarian here at All Paws. I often tell people that I am like a cat with nine lives. I started out as a marine biologist, then went to vet school and worked in zoos, aquariums, small animal private practice and field medicine. Most notably, I have worked in the Caribbean on corals and in South America on One Health and conservation initiatives. Animals are amazing and I am so fortunate to have worked with so many…. from sea stars to beluga whales, from hamsters to camels, from parakeets to harpy eagles, and from cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Animals rock!

My parents are from Latvia and even though I was born in the US, my first language was Latvian. I have enjoyed the cultural diversity this has proved and enjoy traveling and meeting all sorts of people. I grew up with a variety of pets and am fascinated by their behaviors and abilities. It is part of the reason I went into Veterinary medicine when the rest of my family went into human medicine.

I have been with the clinic for over 10 years now and have seen a lot of changes. Overall, it has always been a wonderful place to work and happily, it continues to be fun and engaging. friendly, knowledgeable, and supportive staff plus awesome clients and pets!

A fun fact about me is that we had all kinds of animals growing up, including a donkey my dad ordered from Sears and Roebuck! They sold everything back then!
